First, I would like to say how honored I was to receive from the City of Beaverton and the Beaverton Arts Commission, the Arts and Cultural Award of 2014 for helping with local festivities and education in Beaverton. I was presented the certificate from the Honorable Mayor Denny Doyle on June 3rd.
We, my wife Anne Doherty and I as S & A Irish Entertainment work hard throughout the year to provide Cultural Community events here in Tualatin as a base, besides Beaverton, Tigard and Portland.
We are starting our 8th year at the Winona Grange in Tualatin providing Irish Ceili (folk) dance and live music and our 6th year hosting Community Concerts with several different genres of music; Irish, Scottish, Swing time and Old Time Blue Grass.
Starting this Season we are having two of the most energized bands here in Tualatin: October 3rd is CRUMAC, from Seattle, with Tom Creegan (From Dublin, Ireland) on uilleann pipes, Dale Russ on fiddle and Mike Saunders on guitar and vocal at the 1st Friday Céilí Mor. Then on October 11th is Molly’s Revenge, from California, with David Brewer on pipes, whistles and bodhrán, John Weed on fiddle and Stuart Mason on guitar and mandola at the 2nd Saturday Community Concert!
